I thought about what I should write for my first blog. Should it be about the current state of the Yankees? Should I write what I hope to see happen during the off season or even write about voodoo rituals I have toward the Red Sox in hopes they fail to make the playoffs (Hey, it worked on Curt Shilling…..Just kidding). Then I decided to write my first blog about me. A bit narsistic, I know, but I really felt I should introduce myself to anyone who reads this.
My name is Mike. I am a 37 year old New Yorker who lives, breathes and dies Yankees baseball. I live in the Bronx, about 7 stops away from Yankee Stadium on the subway. I work in Manhattan as a collections specialist for a background checking company. Aside from the Yankees, I root for the Jets, Devils and Knicks.
I’m a card collector who concentrates on the Yankees as well as the teams I mentioned. I am a member of the Becketts Team Collectors group. I currently have close, if not over, 10,000 Yankees cards. I am also an autograph collector. I write TTM and try to catch players at card shows, games or apperances. On a future blog, I will post pictures of my favorite items I have signed. I pretty much collect anything and everything Yankees. Because I live check to check, I don’t really own any big ticket items, nor do I attend a Steiner signing. I add to my collection on the cheap. I feel that it’s more fun hunting down a player or item to add to my collection without spending a whole heck of lot of hard earned green backs than spending $1,000.00 + for a 16×20 multi player signed photo.
Anyways, that’s pretty much it for now. My lunch break is almost over. Feel free to comment or reach out to me. I’m here to make friends, read other blogs (My current favorite is The Baseball Collector) and talk baseball.
